Patient Admission

Emergency Admission

Patients arriving at the Hospital are initially assessed by the on-call physician in the Emergency Department (ED). If an immediate admission is deemed necessary, the physician issues an Emergency Admission Form, with which the admission is completed through the Patient Admissions Office.

Scheduled Admission

The admission order for a scheduled admission is issued by Hospital physicians following a consultation at the Morning or Afternoon Scheduled Outpatient Clinics.

Required Documents

Upon admission, patients must:

  • Know their AMKA number (or present the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for patients with EU-based insurance rights).
  • If insured under the Army, Air Force, Navy or Coast Guard, present their Health Booklet.
  • Present their Police Identity Card (or an equivalent document such as a Passport).

Uninsured patients arriving from EU or non-EU countries must hold an AMKA number upon presentation.
In cases of Emergency Admission, the above documents must be submitted to the Patient Admissions Office by the patient’s relatives no later than the following day.
